The company initially announced that the truck would have a 500 miles (805 km) range on a full charge and with its new batteries it would be able to run for 400 miles (640 km) after an 80% charge in 30 minutes using a solar-powered “Tesla Megacharger” charging station. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Semi would come standard with Tesla Autopilot that allows semi-autonomous driving on highways.

While the VNR Electric is revolutionary, the truck itself is immediately familiar, based on the highly popular Volvo VNR. Drivers will instantly recognize the maneuverability, visibility, and safety that are part of every VNR. With the travel range of  130-180 miles, the Volvo VNR Electric trucks are good for urban usages like waste collection, delivery transport, consumables and light construction work. The VNR FL weighs 16 tones has a power output of 200 kWh, and takes about 60-90 minutes to charge depending upon the number of batteries (4 or 6).
